How do I set up Google Pay™?
Google Pay™ makes paying in stores and apps quick and safe. Follow these steps to get started and learn how to make payments. To use Google Pay, you need to add your eligible cards to the Google Pay app on your Android device.
Steps to Add a Card
Using the Ulster Bank Mobile Banking App
- Login to the mobile bank app
- If you don’t have it, download it from the Google Play Store and register.
- Select the account the card is linked to
- Tap the account which the card is associated with.
- Tap 'Manage cards and Google Wallet'
- Press ‘Add to Google Wallet’ button
- The button will show under the image of the card you wish to add
Using the Google Wallet App
- Get the Google Pay app
- If you don’t have it, download it from the Google Play Store and open it.
- Add your card
- Tap the “+” icon and enter your card and billing address.
- Agree to the terms
- Read and accept the terms and conditions.
- Verify your card
- Follow the on-screen steps to confirm your card.
Once your card is verified, you can start using Google Pay.
Important:
If your phone doesn’t have screen unlock or contactless (NFC) turned on, you’ll be asked to set these up.
Adding More Cards
- You can use the same card on several devices.
- To add more cards, repeat the steps for each card.
Paying with Google Pay™
You can pay in-stores, on transport, or in apps using Google Pay.
In-Store Payments
- Unlock your device (no need to open the app).
- Hold the back of your phone near the contactless payment machine.
- Follow the steps on the screen.
- Your phone will beep or vibrate when the payment is done.
Additional details:
- The first card you add will be your main card.
- You can change your main card anytime by choosing another card and tapping “Set as default card.”
In-App Payments
- Look for the “Buy with Google Pay” button in apps that support it.
- (A list of apps is on Google Pay’s website.)
- Tap “Buy with Google Pay” to pay quickly and safely.
- You may need to confirm your payment.
On Transport
- Use Google Pay to pay for buses, trains and the London Underground
Note:
For app payments, your main Google Pay card will show first.
You can pick another card, and that card will then be used for payments in that app.
This might be different from your main card used for in-store payments.
Security and Limits
- Stores may set a limit on how much you can spend with Google Pay.
- Ulster Bank may also set limits on how much and how often you can pay with Google Pay.
