We’re introducing face (and soon voice) biometrics to make it even easier and more secure to make payments via your app and  approve your every-day banking needs.

Register your face on your Ulster Bank app and soon you’ll be able to use your app to confirm:

  • mobile payments
  • selected online banking activities (instead of your card reader)
  • open banking transactions
  • online purchase

Go to ‘biometric approval’ in the settings of your Ulster Bank app to register and confirm #it’sreallyme.

What's changing?

Between now and September 2021, new regulation is being introduced to improve online payment security and help reduce fraud and scams. In a nutshell, it means you'll be asked to confirm it's really you more often.

We’re making online shopping even more secure

When you shop online, we’ll ask you to confirm your identity and approve transactions more often. You can do this in your Ulster Bank mobile banking app by using your Face ID, fingerprint, or passcode to confirm #ItsReallyMe.

Using your biometrics, such as your fingerprint, face or voice, is the most secure way to confirm #ItsReallyMe.

How does it work?

It’s simple. If we spot an unusual transaction, we’ll ask you to open your app and confirm your identity with your Face ID, fingerprint, or passcode. Then you’ll be able to see the details of the transaction and approve or decline it.

Make it easier by turning on app notifications

With your notifications enabled, we can let you know straight away if you need to review a transaction. Then you can simply tap the notification to go straight to your app. If you want to turn on push notifications for your app, just go to your phone’s notifications settings and look for the Ulster Bank app.
