Car insurance - Overview
Ulster Bank Car Insurance is introduced by Ulster Bank Ireland Limited and underwritten and administered by Aviva Insurance Europe SE.
What types of cover are offered?
You can choose from two main options, Premier Comprehensive and Value Comprehensive.
1) PREMIER Comprehensive (Premier)
High on features and low on price, Premier comes with the following features as standard:
- Breakdown Rescue
- Aviva's dedicated fleet of patrol vans that fix 8 out of 10 cars on the spot, you have less to worry about with Breakdown Rescue from Aviva.
- If you break down on any public road in the Republic of Ireland or the UK you'll get the full support of Aviva's emergency breakdown assistance to get you going as quickly as possible. This also includes 'driveway' breakdown assistance at your home address.
- If Aviva are unable to fix your vehicle at the roadside, they will provide free towing to the nearest competent repairer or your own garage, whichever is closer.
- And your car is covered, whoever is driving when it breaks down.
- Windscreen cover
- Excess of just €300 for accidental damage.

- No claims discount step back (where you can keep part of your no claims discount)
- Protected no claim discount
- Open driving (other drivers aged 25 to 70 years can drive your car)

2) VALUE Comprehensive (Value)
Value offers the same benefits as Premier, with the exception of breakdown rescue and windscreen cover as standard, and has an excess of €600 for accidental damage, fire and theft. With Value cover you can also choose from the following optional extras:
- Breakdown Rescue from Aviva
- Windscreen cover
- JourneyWise Accident Cover (Personal Accident Benefit)
- No claims discount step back (where you can keep part of your no claims discount)
- Protected no claims discount
- Open driving (other drivers aged 25 to 70 years can drive your car)
- Option to reduce Policy Excess amount to just €125
So many benefits as standard
Whether you choose Premier or Value, you'll automatically be covered for:
- Emergency treatment
- Driving other cars (Third Party Only cover for the policyholder if you hold a full E.U. driving licence). With the Value product, then the policyholder needs to hold a full E.U. licence five years or more to be able to drive other cars for third party only cover.
- Foreign travel extension
- Towing charges
- Fire brigade charges
- Replacement lock cover
- Personal belongings cover up to €150

- Free accompanied driver cover for six months insurance on parent's policy

- Up to 40% discount on your car insurance premium available to successful participants
- One hour on-road assessment with a driving instructor from Aviva Driving School
- The assessment is free of charge.
