Switch to Ulster Bank

Your account will be up and running within 10 working days:
Once your account is opened, if you have requested it:
- We will send you your ATM card(s), and chequebooks.
- We will send you your lodgement books.
- We will send you an internet and telephone banking activation code.
- We will help you set up any new standing orders.
Providing the same facilities
When you switch to Ulster Bank we can look to match the debit card and overdraft facility you had with your old bank. However, we will expect you to pay your main income into your Ulster Bank account. If you would like us to match your current facilities, please arrange a meeting with one of our customer advisers at one of our branches.
Asking for a larger overdraft facility at your local branch will mean we carry out a further credit search and this will usually be recorded with credit reference agencies. As a result, it may affect your ability to get credit elsewhere in the future. Overdrafts are available to over 18s only.
Your interest and fee-free period
We will give you an interest-and-fee-free* overdraft for at least three months depending on your circumstances.
If you do not have an overdraft or have chosen not to take one, we will, within a reasonable time, give you back any charges or interest that you have had to pay on your new account because of a failure during the switching process.
Your old bank will, within a reasonable time, give you back any charges or interest (or both) that you had to pay to the old bank because of a failure during the switching process.
*The 'fee free period' relates to unarranged borrowing fees which are charged in addition to interest if your account goes into excess.
Your account will be switched in no longer than 17* working days
Once you have signed all the switching documentation, send all these into us and we will look after the rest.

*To meet this timeline we are dependent on your old bank responding to our requests within the timelines described above.
