Alerts Service - Overview

Balance alerts (you must register for this service)

There's no need to call, visit a branch or queue at a cash machine to get a regular balance update.

Once you register we'll text you your balance each week on whatever day suits you best - you can even specify morning or afternoon.

You can also set up Alerts to inform you when your account goes above or below a certain limit, so you'll know when you've received a large payment or if your money's running low.

We'll check your balance at 6am and we'll aim to text you at around 8am the same day or around 10am if it's a weekend.

You can also ask for a balance and mini-statement update, showing the most recent transactions on your account by text message at any time you like. Once you have registered for Balance Alerts, just text BAL or MINI to 60627 (Standard text rate applies). If you register more than one account, you can tell us which one you need information for by adding the last three digits of your account number or the last four digits of your debit card number, eg. BAL 123 or BAL 1234.


Activity Alerts (all customers that have provided their mobile phone number to Ulster Bank will automatically receive these alerts)

Activity Alerts are designed to allow us to confirm to you, by text, when a certain activity has taken place on your account. This means you'll be able to keep track of certain changes to your account without having to call, visit a branch or go to online banking. They'll also provide you with increased security because you'll know if something unexpected happens.

An example message: Your home phone number has been updated as requested on dd/mm/yy. Please contact us if you have any queries.


We will send you Activity alerts when you:

  • create or amend a payee - either a UK individual or company
  • create or amend a standing order
  • update your address or telephone details
  • are issued with a new debit/cash card or PIN.

We also have a Mobile Phone Banking application for standard Mobile handsets.

Our mobile banking application works on most modern mobile phones. If your phone has a camera or games, it should work.

You can download the application today for free. Once you've created a secure password for logging on, you'll have access to a wide range of features including:

  • Check your balance online - view up-to-the-minute account balances.
  • See mini statements - see your last six transactions when you choose.
  • Add up to 10 accounts - register any Ulster Bank account you have a debit card for and keep an eye on all your finances.

This service is not currently available on Android Handsets. We're working hard to extend the mobile services we offer to customers to include other handset types. We'll keep you posted of any new developments.
